For the sake of public transport users’ safety, the Jakarta Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and Trade (KUKMP) Department held a taximeter raid in the capital.

Relaying on beritajakarta.com's data, the raid is held on Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur, Gambir, Central Jakarta and Jalan Boulevard, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. Using a rolltester device, the officers managed to check 25 taxis from various professional taxi operators. But there is not found any violation.

Robinhot Siagian, Head of Supervision, Handling, and Customer Protection for Division Head of Jakarta Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and Trade Department disclosed such raid aims to know, whether the taxi is using standardized taximeter or not.

"We held the raid outside the office. Our target is all taxis in Jakarta," he expressed, Wednesday (3/18).

If there is found violation, the administration sanction will be given to the offenders. "But if we find cheating here, we will cast criminal sanction that listed in the Law No. 2/1981 on Legal Metrology, imprisonment for one year," he asserted.
